Hertfordshire
Highways is proposing to implement pedestrian improvements on Villiers-sur-Marne
Avenue, Bishop's
Stortford. The works on Villiers-sur-Marne
Avenue will include:
- Street
lighting to be upgraded along the entire stretch. New lighting columns
and signs to be installed at the rear of the footways to
maximise the effective footway widths;
- New footways
to be installed, where possible, to link existing footways, junctions
or to provide new footway links;
- Minor
adjustments to be made to the existing School Crossing Patrol
site including a small area of resurfacing, the refreshing of
road markings and the re-setting of the bollards;
- New or
upgraded uncontrolled crossing points across junctions to
be installed to meet current standards;
- New or
upgraded uncontrolled crossing points across Villiers-sur-Marne Avenue,
using existing pinch points or traffic chicanes where possible, to
minimize the width of road pedestrians are required to cross, to be
installed to meet current standards;
- Vegetation
trimming / removal, and signing works to be undertaken where necessary;
- All existing
footways to be sided out to obtain the maximum available footway
widths.
The
works
will be installed in phases. The lighting upgrade is planned
to be implemented early 2010, with the other works to
follow later in 2010 if funding allows.
